In Indonesia have many kind of wedding ceremony. One of them from Yogyakarta. Every place In Indonesia have different manner of wedding ceremony. I will explain about wedding from Yogyakarta. I get this topic because I’m from Yogyakarta and I want tell to all people that Yogyakarta have many culture and act. This culture have to permanent and can to be characteristic this city. Before wedding day, usually bride gave to groom wedding ring. It name is fiancée. This is the time to meet their family in groom’s home. The bride have to gave her wedding ring and the bride gave gold 24 rust, Because gold 24 rust is pure gold, it’s symbolize that their love pure and honest. Wedding ring is things very important in the wedding. The bride and the groom exchange wedding rings as a sign of love and showing their official commitment as wife and husband.. Usually the bride man gave 20 gram or more. When fiancée they not only bring wedding ring but they bring clothes, money, fruit and vegetables. In fiancée their family fixed wedding day and they looking for the best day to their wedding. Before the wedding day, the bride groom did “siraman” at their home. Siraman comes from the word siram which means to shower. So, on the day prior to the actual wedding, the bride and groom are showered in the rite of siraman to cleanse their bodies as well as their souls. “siraman” is when bride groom to bathe with water and setaman flowers. Setaman flowers is various flowers of rose, yasmin, magnolia, cananga in a bowl of fresh water and their family join to bathe bride groom. At the night wedding day usually friends and their family join help make “janur”. “janur” is symbol wedding which make from young leaf coconut and will take in front of home or wedding place. When the wedding day in the morning bride groom did “ijab kabul”. Ijab is the most important rite to legalize a marriage. Ijab is a wedding registration in accordance with Islamic religion. In Indonesia, a marriage is legalized according to the religion of the couple. This is to legalize wedding. This is must to present witness by all family and help by village headman. Panggih or Temu Manten Ceremony is a traditional ceremony which takes place in the home of the bride’s parents. It is the meeting of the bride and groom and is conducted immediately after the Ijab / religious marriage and the civil registration.After they legal to be married couple they will to tread on egg together and so they will sit in wedding chair to meet all guess. After ijab Kabul the groom and the bride do sungkem to both parents . Sungkem is putting both hands together as in prayer and bowing seeking blessing The sungkem ceremony is very touchy for the parents as well as for the newlyweds. The parents heartily accept their children’s love and devotion and at the same time, they give the very best wishes to their children to live happily in a harmonious fortunate family. After “ijab kabul” the parents of groom sell “cendol” and the guess buy this “cendol” it”s only kidding. This cendol free, you can drink it not only pay. It’s only culture. The name is “pasaran”. Massage from pasaran is so that they happy and always lucky. Of all programme wedding have different meaning and it still did by descent Yogyakarta people until now.
